Helloween and Gamma Ray

Took some time out tonight to go to Shepherd's Bush Empire to see Helloween and Gamma Ray as I didn't want to be sitting at home thinking about six months all night.

Missed the first support band Axxis (never heard of them before so no harm done there!) Had hoped that Robin would come along and join me for the gig but he ended up having to work late and so couldn't make it :o(

Gamma Ray were great. Kai Hansen used to be in Helloween so the tour was an interesting match up but I am a big fan of both bands anyway. Hansens quasi-operatic vocals were spot on and the guitar solos were also not perfect.

Set list was as follows:
1. Welcome
2. Gardens of the Sinner
3. New World Order
4. Fight
5. From the Ashes
6. Empress
7. Valley of the Kings
8. Rebellion in Dreamland
9. Heavy Metal Universe
10. Ride the Sky
11. Somewhere Out in Space

-Encore---
12. Send Me A Sign

Helloween are in a league of their own. I hadn't realised that so many people would be at this gig and the crown went wild when they hit the stage!

Set list was as follows:
Halloween
1. Intro
2. Halloween
3. Sole Survivor
4. March of Time
5. As Long As I Fall
6. A TaleThat Wasn't Right
7. Drum solo, aborted as it breakes into.............
Comedy skit and piss take of Smoke On The Water culminating in Michael Weikath shooting the three dwarves (the rest of the band who interrupted the solo)
Drum solo (proper one this time)
8. The King For A 1000 Years
9. Eagle Fly Free
10. The Bells of the 7 Hells
11. If I Could Fly
12. Dr. Stein

-Encore 1---
13. Medley: Perfect Gentleman Pt. 1 / I Can / Where The Rain Grows / Perfect Gentleman Pt. 2 / Power / Keeper Of The Seven Keys

-Encore 2---
14. Future World (with Gamma Ray)
15. I Want Out(with Gamma Ray)
