Landlady visit, RAW, Cosmos, Black Flag and Rangers beat the Hurricanes

It was a good WFH day today. I like the good days :) We had a visit from our landlady who had popped round with her dad to take a look at the decking that needs replacing and also the damage to the shed(s). As of 26th June we'll be ditching the crappy management company that is in use at the moment and will be dealing with the landlords directly which will make life so much easier going forward. She liked what we have done with the garden so far which was a comfort too.

Sam served up a lovely bratwurst and bacon dinner and we settled in to watch the post-Wrestlemania RAW. This one was a good one. Lots of airtime for Daniel Bryan, The Shield turning on The Authority, Daniel Bryan NOT getting screwed out of the title the next night. Paige defeating AJ Lee for the Divas title was wonderful just to see AJ finally drop the belt. Best segment for me though was Cesaro dumping Zeb Colter to side with Paul Heyman (something I said I hoped would happen moments before it did). Cesaro and Heyman will make an awesome partnership.

Next up was the latest episode of Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey. This continues to be a fascinating show with so much wonderful factual information packed into such a short time period. It's almost too much to take in.

I then grabbed a chance to have a quick hour playing Assassin's Creed Black Flag before the ice hockey started. There is so much joy to be had in sailing a ship and boarding and looting others!

The game tonight was New York Rangers v Carolina Hurricanes. Things kicked off with Mats Zuccarello winning the Steve McDonald Extra Effort Award. It was well deserved. The pressure was off slightly as the Rangers clinched their play off spot after the Devils lost last night. It's now just a matter of playing for wins and placing. The game started badly with Patrick Dwyer making it 0 - 1 to the Hurricanes with only 03:22 gone. It was end to end play after that with Derek Stepan denied after hitting the post. Fortunately Lundqvist was sharp from the get go making a number of excellent saves. A power play goal from Brad Richards at 15:44 tied it up 1 - 1. The first period ended 1 - 1.

00:50 into the second period and Benoit Pouiliot made it 2 - 1 Rangers with a beautiful goal set up by Mats Zuccarello and Anton Stralman. This period was a lot more relaxed with the Rangers putting up some good offense as well as defensive play. At 13:36 Brad Richards does it again with another power play goal making it 3 - 1.It was an encouraging second period that ended with Rangers leading 3 - 1. No time to relax!

04:38 into the third and Derek Stepan made it 4 -1 Rangers after a good set up from Martin St. Louis. There was no sitting back on the lead in this period with the Rangers continuing to pile on the pressure on the Hurricanes. Final score was 4 - 1 to the Rangers with a great all round team effort. Great defence, great offense, good power play units and fantastic goal tending. Just need to keep this level of play up as we head towards the play offs.
