Day off, carvery, Battlefront and Rangers beat the Blue Jackets

Lovely day off today which started off with NOT getting up early! Toni and I took Pam to the Toby Carvery for a massive roast lunch. That's the way to do it!

When we got back Toni went off to crochet so I had a good old session on the Star Wars Battlefront beta. I'm still struggling with the Call Of Duty style play in the multiplayer Drop Zone mission. It's a steep learning curve and is pretty unforgiving. I'm not sure if I like it or not. At one point I even told Sam that I probably wouldn't buy the game when it comes out but it's a Star Wars game so I am sure that I will. I just have to practice a lot to get the most out of it!

I even managed to spend some time doing some tidying up today. Certain areas that I am responsible for have a habit of getting a tad cluttered. It felt really good to get them sorted out though. It was long overdue..... LOL

Another late night was upon us as we settled in to watch New York Rangers take on the Columbus Blue Jackets. First period started a little shaky with the Blue Jackets not hanging about in putting the pressure on. Thankfully Lundqvist was looking sharp. I know it's only early but the Rangers power play doesn't seem to have improved since the end of last season. That's something they really need to sort out. The Blue Jackets are a very physical team, there were bodies flying everywhere. Mats Zuccarello gave Rangers a 1 - 0 lead at 19:16 with a beautiful backhand shot. First period ended with Rangers leading 1 - 0  Shots on goal were NYR 6 and CBJ 9.

Second period wasn't brilliant. The Rangers managed to survive two penalty kills. There was still far too much Blue Jackets possession. Second half of the period saw an improvement with the Rangers spending more time in the Blue Jackets defensive zone. Sadly a slip on the ice resulted in a breakaway goal for the Blue Jackets and they tied thing up 1 - 1. Cracking saves from both goalies at the end of the period.  Another penalty put the Rangers back on the penalty kill for the last minute. Second period ended tied 1 - 1. Shots on goal were NYR 10 (16) and CBJ 14 (23).

Third period saw the Rangers much with more possession and scoring chances. Both goalies were kept busy. Rangers get a delay of the game penalty with four minutes left and the Blue Jackets take a 1 - 2 lead. with 2:36 left in the game Oscar Lindberg tied it scored for the Rangers to tie it up 2 - 2. Kevin Hayes then gave the Rangers a 3 - 2 lead seventeen seconds later. Mats Zuccarello then taps in another one to put the Rangers 4 - 2 up. Third period ended with the Rangers winning 4 - 2. Shots on goal were NYR 9 (25) and CBJ 10 (33).
