Tequlia Christmas cake

How to make Tequila Christmas Cake

Ingredients:

1 cup of water
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup of sugar
1 tsp salt
1 cup of brown sugar
Lemon juice
4 large eggs
Nuts
1 bottle tequila
2 cups of dried fruit

Sample the tequila to check quality. Take a large bowl, check the tequila again. To be sure it is of the highest quality, pour one level cup and drink. Repeat. Turn on the electric mixer. Beat one cup of butter in a large fluffy bowl. Add one teaspoon of sugar. Beat again. At this point it's best to make sure the tequila is still OK. Try another cup... just in case. Turn off the mixerer thingy. Break 2 leggs and add to the bowl and chuck in the cup of dried fruit.

Pick the fruit up off floor. Mix on the turner. If the fried druit gets stuck in the beaterers just pry it loose with a drewscriver.
Sample the lequita to check for tonsisticity. Next, sift two cups of salt. Or something. Check the tequila. Now shift the lemon juice and strain your nuts. Add one table. Add a spoon of sugar, or somefink. Whatever you can find. Greash the oven. Turn the cake tin 360 degrees and try not to fall over. Don't forget to beat off the turner. Finally, throw the bowl through the window. Finish the tequila and wipe counter with the cat.

Edinburgh Capitals webcast

Watched the Edinburgh Capitals v Cardiff Devils webcast tonight (the game I was actually supposed to be at in Edinburgh).

Was quite flat really, not very inspiring and the Capitals came out losing 1 - 4. It is pretty hard to stay positive supporting a team that never seems to get things going. Would have been nice to have been up there and catch up with some old friends but alas the fates conspired against me this week. I am determinded to make it up there once before the end of the season though.

Bah! To Cancer

Stephanie (my dad's wife) has just started a blog called Bah! To Cancer to update people on how she is doing since her diagnosis with breast cancer.

Pop over and have a read: http://bahtocancer.blogspot.com/

Not done a lot today

Not done very much at all but then why should we LOL

Toni made a few phone calls to try and ascertain exactly where things are at with the insurance and it looks almost certain that her car will be written off. Hopefull next week she will be able to get a hire car (at least for a couple of weeks)

Went to the butchers to get some nice sausages, had breakfast at 15:00 and watched Blackadder and then fell asleep for a couple of hours YAY!

A day of spoiling ourselves

As we were all feeling sore and battered we all decided to spoil oursleves today.

Toni and I had a steak breakfast (as we hadn't eaten ours last night)

Toni, Sam and I went into Chelmsford on the bus (that was weird in itself as we are so used to driving in) and met Sophie and Shane.

We went to the cinema to see Four Christmases (which is a pretty funny film and just right to chill out) and indulged on sweet popcorn, Minstrels and Pepsi Max.

Sam went off to do some shopping with Sopie and Shane and Toni and I went for a mooch around. We ended up buying some lovely lingerie in Marks & Spencers and got some great Xmas presents for mum, dad and Stephanie.

Sam met us at the bus stop (loaded with a massive Warhammer gaming board set and a building set).

Toni had prepared a rabbit casserole but we forgot to turn the slow cooker on and as ew couldn't be arsed to cook when we got home we ordered a curry and watched The I.T. Crowd.

Mild whiplash

Went to see my doctor today and have mild whiplash. Staple diet of painkillers for a few days and hopefully things will get better.

Insurance stuff

Toni spend most of the day on the phone today trying to sort out her insurance. Seems that despite the guy who hit us spending all last night admitting he was doing at least 80mph and that he lost control of the car (to us and in front of the police) he went and told his insurance company that it was Toni's fault! This now means that the claim is in dispute and Toni might not get a courtesy/hire car (which will be a real bitch and pain in the arse if it happens)

In the cold light of day

Here's what things looked like next day just before the car was removed......

Goodbye car.............

Not needed for court

Rang the High Court in Edinburgh today to inform them that I hadn't been able to travel up to give evidence today but thankfully they had decided that my statement alone was sufficient and that it was not necessary for me to attend which was a refief. Only downside was that it means the weekend in Edinburgh that had been planned has also been cancelled so I'll miss going to the Capitals v Devils game on Saturday.

Ouch ouch ouch

As predicted by the police and ambulance crew I was not very comfortable when I woke up this morning. Neck, back, hips and joints were all aching like mad (which is normal when they have been chucked around speeds of approximately 70 mph)

Took ibuprofen and booked an appointment with the doctor to get myself checked out as I was unable to go the hospital last night.

What do you get if you cross a Peugot 206 with a Vauxhall Astra Estate and an Argos Lorry?

No this isn't a joke...............
En route to North Greenwich we pulled on to the M25 at Junction 29. We followed an Argos lorry onto the inside lane of the M25. Toni pulled over into the middle lane and commented about a fucking idiot driving too fast who was way behind us in the middle lane who then pulled into the outside lane. Next thing I now there was an almighty crash and we were being pushed back from the middle lane to the indide one and into the rear of the Argos lorry. Apparently the car that hit us spun off ahead of us. Bit of a blur as to what our car did after that but we came to a stand still at 90 degress to the road with our car traversing the hard shoulder and inside lane.

Nothing more calming than coming to terms with your own mortality as you see all the oncoming traffic heading towards the side of your car. Actually it wasn't calming, I screamed! Thankfully everybody managed to avoid hitting us as Toni screamed for us to get out of the car. Her door was stuck but somehow she managed to kick her way out. It was a proper Hollywood action move style kick, god knows where that came from!

A witness managed to get Toni's car onto the hard shoulder for us.

Lots of conversations and ambulances and police cars. Toni was seen by paramedics as she had a blow to the head on impact and Sam also had neck pains. I was shaken and a little stiff but felt OK. Much later on Toni and Sam were taken to Basildon hospital to be checked out but I had to stay with the car until it could be towed away. Police said we were luck to have walked away from this.

So here is some of the fun and games!

Toni's car:

The Argos lorry, no real damage other than a fooked tail lift:

Hectic day

Hectic day at work trying to meet deadlines before heading off to Edinburgh with Sam.

There was a fatality at Harold Wood delaying trains on the way home so I was running late and not impressed.

Met Little Matt getting off the train at Wickford and had a chat and he told me about his new club night, Redemption, that is starting up at Evolution in December to replace the theme night.

Trains to Southminster were delayed by 1 hour so I decided to get a taxi back to SWF as Sam and I were supposed to be meeting Toni in London for something to eat before getting the train to Edinburgh. Sent a text to Toni to say there were train problems and she called and said that she would come and pick us up and drive us to North Greenwich.

Got home and finished packing.

Toni arrived and we headed off. We decided that it would be easier to eat at North Greenwich rather than travel into London to do it.

The thing about Chinese Democracy is.....

....that it sucks really bad!

Guns N Roses new album? Nah, Axl & Friends would be a better way of describing the self indulgent load of nonsense that is Chinese Democracy. It might sound like Axl Rose but it certainly doesn't sound like Guns N Roses.

Spent ages today listening to it over and over really wanting to like it and find something positive but the fact is that I can't.

So long Axl..................GAME OVER!

Really bad day!

God it was bad at work today.
As if it wasn't bad enough having a ever decreasing deadline to meet but I then get dragged into dealing with two other issues that were absolutely nothing to do with me. Bad case of consultants playing pass the hot potato! Didn't actually leave until 17:50 which is astonishing as I can't remember the last time that I left after 17:15 if I wasn't heading straight home.

Got in, knackered, ordered pizza for dinner, and watched Eastender with Sam before we both went upstairs and watched the WWE Survivor Series that I had just downloaded.

Sophie is OK

Sophie went back to the hospital for her additional check up after last night but thankfully everything was OK and she and Scarlett are fine.

Restless night because of Sophie

Had a very restless night as Sophie had to go to hospital last night as she had some abdominal pains that she was worried about. Got a phone call about 02:30 saying that she was OK and could go home but had to go back today for a further check just in case.

Visiting Sophie

Got a call from Sophie asking if we wanted to go and visit here which we decided to do after a late breakfast (well lunch really).

It was nice to go over and see her and Shane and spend some time with them. We all had a go on her new Wii.

Sophie and Sam gave me a wonderful present, a tin VW Campervan, it is totally awesome:

Snow!

We had some, well a teensy weensy bit anyway.
It was certainly cold enough!

Hastings

Got up reasonably early today and we had planned to go for a walk but Toni's nan suggested we go to Hastings and check out the old town. A short drive later we arrived in Hastings. It was quite funny as it doesn't look much different from when I used to go there as a kid with nanny and grandad and mum and dad. We decided to give the old town a miss as I knew of some old goth/rock shops that I used to visit so we went in search of them instead. Shops I remembered weren't there but we did find a couple of excellent new ones. Bought fab skirt(s) in a shop called Equilibrium, one for Toni and one for me. Next up I got Toni's Xmas presents as there were a few fab items that she liked. I also bought a couple of bags for myself.

On the way back to the car we bought a nice load of fresh red mullet, scallops, squid and prawns for a fish stew tomorrow night.

Unfortunately my camera battery died so I had to resort to using my phone to grab a couple of shots of the cliff lifts, my biggest childhood memory of Hastings:

Bexhill on Sea

Met Toni at North Greenwich tonight and then we drove to Bexhill on Sea to visit her nan. Had a lovely steak dinner and watched some trash television. Aaron stayed with Toni's mum and Sam went to stay with Sophie for the night so it was nice just to get away and be kid free for a short period.

Warhammer model making

Sam and I spent a few hours tonight basking in the warmth of daylight bulbs and building and painting Warhammer models.

Was good fun and nice to spend some time just doing stuff and listening to some groovy tunes together.

New guitar has arrived

Got home tonight to find my gorgeous new Les Paul Special waiting for me. It looks and feels wonderful and I can't wait to start putting it through it's paces!

Will post a guitar collection soon

A Close Shave

Well not literally!
Had a dentist appointment this afternoon (always a pleasure) and then after that I went to Jagged Edge to have my hair thinnned out and tidied up by Debbie (Sharon's old hairdresser). Was nice to see her again and have a catch up and also have my hair sorted. A little too much off the back for my liking but it still has length and will grow.

Toni came over and we popped to Asda for supplies and then had bolgnaise and watch A Close Shave (with those wonderful suprtstars Wallace And Gromit).

After that it was time for a much needed early night.

Memories.............

*sniff*
Was browsing through my old photographs of Sharon this evening and it brought everything flooding back to me. Life is so cruel. Spent the next couple of hours looking back on what we had and what we did whilst listening to Rufus Wainwright. Topped it all off by listening to the song of Sharon singing with Mark Young. Had a chat with Angie on MSN while I was listening to Rufus and sent her Sharon's song which she thought was "well lush" :o)

No particular reason that I chose to put this one online other than that I love it (and it was a song that Sharon hadn't realised was by Rufus which I found quite amusing)

Hallelujah

I've heard there was a secret chord
That David played, and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do you?
It goes like this
The fourth, the fifth
The minor fall, the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty
in the moonlight
overthrew you
She tied you
To a kitchen chair
She broke your throne,
she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Maybe I've been here before
I know this room, I've walked this floor
I used to live alone before I knew you
I've seen your flag on the marble arch
love is not a victory march
It's a cold and it's a broken hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

There was a time you'd let me know
What's real and going on below
But now you never show it to me do you?
Remember when I moved in you?
The holy dark was moving too
And every breath we drew was hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Maybe there's a God above
And all I ever learned from love
Was how to shoot at someone who outdrew you
It's not a cry you can hear at night
It's not somebody who's seen the light
It's a cold and it's a broken hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

- Hallelujah (Rufus Wainwright)

Hollywood Doll are go!

Well tonight was the night, our first ever rehearsal and all four of us in the same room at the same time for the first time ever!

How was it? Awesome!

Matt, Charlie and I clicked really well and it was so good to be playing with great musicians. Poor old Vikki was nursing a sore throat so struggled at times but when she had the strength she seemed to sing well. She has decided to take vocal lessons which will help her as she has had no vocal training at all.

Although I am now offiically sick of the sound of Guns N Roses "It's So Easy" I am at least smirking that my musical efforts are coming together once again!

Rock and Roll (on the next one)

Hi ho hi ho....

....it's off to Chelmsford we go (AGAIN!)

Up early today as Toni needed to take the car to Kwik Fit to have the tyres replaced. She waited with Gemima whilst Sam, Aaron and I went to Games Workshop. En route we popped into Poundland and picked up some superglue and I got a fabulous purple and pink tape measure. In Games Workshop Sam bought a whole load of Imperial Guard (his new army) and I got a few new Eldar bits.

Next stop was the O2 shop where Sam and I took a look at the iPhone (which he was interested in) and the O2 XDA Ignito (that I was interested in). I like the idea of the iPhone but there are a couple of features that I normally use that are absent so am not sure about it but the Ignito also seemed a little slow (and I would miss the absence of a QWERTY keyboard. Sam decided to have a think about whether to get an iPhone or not.

Sophie and Shane had arrived in town so we went to Pizza Hut for lunch (which was a treat from Sophie to all of us).

Sam then decided that he did want an iPhone so after lunch we went back to the O2 shop so that he could buy one. Whilst there I discovered that O2 are about to bring out the O2 XDA Serra (which is the Ignito/HTC Touch with a QWERTY keyboard) so I could well go for that when it is upgrade time.

Have to say that having seen the iPhone in action now it is pretty impressive so I now have a dilemma on what to get...............

Home recording and that bastard PC!

Following on from my PC rebuild last week I decided to try and fire up the recording studio tonight and lay down a few ideas for our Hollywood Doll rehearsal on Monday. Damn firewire interface just wasn't playing ball. It took me three re-installs plus about 10 reboots before I actually got the thing back into a state where I could record anything.

I did at least manage to get one track part recorded so I have something to work with tomorrow. Sometimes I hate technology LOL

TGI Friday

Went to Basildon to TGI Friday as Gemima's treat this afternoon. Lots of lovely lovely food. Bizarrely we all had the Jack Daniels Ribs! You can't blame us though, they are SO nice!

Shopping!

Guess where we went today?
Yes I know I said I was bored of going to Chelmsford but it is close by!

Sam went to Basildon at 11 with his mates so Toni, Gemima, Aaron and I went to Chelmsford to do a bit of shopping. Toni picked up some bits for Gemima whilst Aaron acquied some new Orks from Games Workshop. New shoes for Gemima then followed and I bought a Ray Lamontagne songbook from Allegro Music.

Sophie popped over with Fi and Sam

Sophie came over with Fi (and her girlfriend Sam) to pick up Sophie's old bed from the garage to take it over to Shane's mum. Had a slight snag as I thought that it came in two parts but it was just a single piece. Thankfully we managed to get into the back of Fi's car (with Sam taking the mattress in hers). A bit of tent rope to tie the hatchback down and it was job done! Nice to see Sophie (albeit briefly but we are going to have lunch with her tomorrow)

Birthday kebab!

Toni arrived quite late tonight so we popped to the kebab van (that isn's really a van) to have some kebab badness in honour of Gemima's birthday.

Gemima opening her presents:

Settled down and watched lots of Children In Need (Eastenders, Dr.Who and Girls Aloud - PERFECT!) before heading off to bed.

Sam had gone to a Children In Need gig at his school and came back bouncing off the ceiling as he hadn't eaten and had drunk three large bottles of Blue Charge (Asda's cheap alternative to Red Bull). I was glad that he had a great night but he did get a bollocking for the dangerous amount of caffeine he had consumed on an empty stomach.

Happy Birthday Gemima

Happy Birthday Gemima!

Hope you have a good day

Keith, Sophie and Sam

Unintentional sleep in!

Ooooops!
Alarm went off this morning and I checked the time and it was 06:55. Next thing I know it's 08:15 and we fly into one of those OMG moments! Managed to get the 08:39 train though and was only a few minutes late for work, oh the shame LOL

Guitars and Fables!

After dinner tonight I started lusting over some geetars on eBay (following on from a conversation with Robin today about what I should get for home recording). Looked long and hard and some shopping was done! Was quite nice to site down with Sam and talk about guitars :o)

Following on from shopping we popped downstairs briefly to have a quick bash at another new game that he had bought, Fable 2. Shame it was late and I was tired as it was a good game and I'd have liked to have played longer.

Asda, bolgnaise and crashing out

Got home from work and Sam and I went to Asda to pick up a couple of things (and get him an Xbox game "Gears Of War 2" that he had been after for ages).

Got home and made bolgnaise for when Toni arrived. Ate food, watched some TV and then had an early night.

Tommy Cooper jokes - you can't beat them

Two Aerials meet on a roof - fall in love - get married

The ceremony was rubbish but the Reception was Brilliant.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Man goes to the docs, with a strawberry growing out of his head.

Doc says, 'I'll give you some cream to put on it.'

--------------------------------------------------------------------

'Doc, I can't stop singing the green green grass of home.'

'That sounds like Tom Jones syndrome.'

'Is it common?'

'It's not unusual.'

-------------------------------------------------------------------

A man takes his Rottweiler to the vet.

'My dog's cross-eyed, is there anything you can do for him?'

'Well,' says the vet, 'let's have a look at him'

So he picks the dog up and examines his eyes, then checks his teeth.

Finally, he says, 'I'm going to have to put him down.'

'What? Because he's cross-eyed? '

'No, because he's really heavy'

--------------------------------------------------------------------

'Doctor, I can't pronounce my F's, T's and H's.'

'Well you can't say fairer than that then'

------------------------------------------------------------------

Two elephants walk off a cliff...... boom boom!

---------------------------------------------------------------------
So I went to the dentist.

He said 'Say Aaah.'

I said 'Why?'

He said 'My dog's died.'
---------------------------------------------------------------------

So I got home, and the phone was ringing. I picked it up, and said 'Who's speaking please?'

And a voice said 'You are.'
-------------------------------------------------------------------

So I rang up my local swimming baths.
I said 'Is that the local swimming baths?'

He said 'It depends where you're calling from.'
---------------------------------------------------------------------
So I rang up a local building firm, I said 'I want a skip outside my house.'

He said 'I'm not stopping you.'
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Apparently, 1 in 5 people in the world are Chinese. And there are 5 people in my family, so it must be one of them.

It's either my mum or my dad.
Or my older brother Colin.
Or my younger brother Ho-Cha-Chu.

But I think it's Colin.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

So I was in my car, and I was driving along, and my boss rang up, and he said 'You've been promoted.'

And I swerved.

And then he rang up a second time and said 'You've been promoted again.'

And I swerved again.

He rang up a third time and said 'You're managing director.'

And I went into a tree.

And a policeman came up and said

'What happened to you?'
And I said 'I careered off the road.'

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Now, most dentists' chairs go up and down, don't they?
The one I was in went back and forwards.

I thought 'This is unusual'.
And the dentist said to me, 'Mr. Cooper, get out of the filing cabinet.'

--------------------------------------------------------------------
So I was getting into my car, and this bloke says to me 'Can you give me a lift?'

I said 'Sure, you look great, the world's your oyster, go for it.'
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Two cannibals eating a clown. One says to the other

'Does this taste funny to you?'

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Police arrested two kids yesterday, one was drinking battery acid, and the other was eating fireworks.

They charged one and let the other one off.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

You know, somebody actually complimented me on my driving today.
They left a little note on the windscreen; it said 'Parking Fine.'

So that was nice.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

A man walked into the doctors,
The doctor said 'I haven't seen you in a long time'
The man replied, 'I know I've been ill'

---------------------------------------------------------------------

A man walked into the doctors,
he said 'I've hurt my arm in several places'

The doctor said, 'well don't go to those places'

---------------------------------------------------------------------

I had a ploughman's lunch the other day.
He wasn't very happy.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

I went to buy some camouflage trousers the other day but I couldn't find any.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

I bought some HP sauce the other day.
It's costing me 6p a month for the next 2 years.
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Two blondes walk into a building..........you'd think at least one of them would have seen it.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Phone answering machine message -

'...If you want to buy marijuana.............press the hash key...'

-------------------------------------------------------------------

I went to the butchers the other day and I bet him 50 quid that he couldn't reach the meat off the top shelf.

He said, 'No, the steaks are too high.'

---------------------------------------------------------------------

My friend drowned in a bowl of muesli.

A strong currant pulled him in.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

A man came round in hospital after a serious accident.

He shouted, 'Doctor, doctor, I can't feel my legs!'

The doctor replied, 'I know you can't, I've cut your arms off'.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

I went to a seafood disco last week.and pulled a mussel.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Two Eskimos sitting in a kayak were chilly.

They lit a fire in the craft. It sank, proving once and for all that you can't have your kayak and heat it.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Our ice cream man was found lying on the floor of his van covered with hundreds and thousands.

Police say that he topped himself.
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Two fat blokes in a pub, one says to the other 'Your round.'

The other one says 'So are you, you fat slob!'

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Ireland's worst air disaster occurred early this morning when a small two-seater Cessna plane crashed into a cemetery.

Irish search and rescue workers have recovered 1826 bodies so far and expect that number to climb as digging continues into the night

Birthday curry

Toni ordered us a curry as it is Aaron's birthday today. Very nice it was too. Sam had Tristan over for the night so the boys all kept themselves entertained. Atmosphere was almost relaxed which isn't bad got three teenage boys *hehe*

A successful challenge at pool

OK so its no great shakes really but I actually won a challenge in our pool ladder at work today. I am never like to get past mid table mediocrity with Stuart and I normally just changing places, flip flopping each day, but lady luck smiled on me today and I actually beat Mike B. Although I can occasionally beat him in friendly games it was nice to actually succeed in a challenge. No doubt I won't be where I am for long!

Fireworks at Loring Hall

Went to meet Toni at North Greenwich with Sam this evening as we were going to the fireworks party at her work. It was nice to chill out a bit and watch the fireworks (even though I am not a big fan of them and it was fecking cold!). Big gang of us there, Toni, Aaron and Gemima, Karen, Emily and Katherine plus Sam and I. Was nice to see Karen again.

Sam was very disappointed that the food was KFC as he won't eat it but he did get a McDonalds on the way home LOL

Toni and I:

After the fireworks, Karen went off with Paul and her kids and then we dropped Gemima off with her dad, Aaron at his nan's before heading back to SWF.
