Halloween prep at the office

It seems that someone in the office is looking forward to celebrating Halloween judging from this:

Sunny St. Paul's

I went for a nice walk/Pokemon hunt at work at lunchtime today. St. Paul's looked wonderful.

Up on the roof.....

Today we had a tour of the office to see where all the fire exits are as well as other important things
like showers, Amazon drop boxes and the basement bike park. The tour ended with us up on the
roof.

It was a lovely day and the view was amazing!

Even better is that there is a bar up there called Madison.

It also has a very nice menu!

Not a bad place to work! Snowball fights on the roof in the winter anyone?

Work really sucked but the day wasn't all bad

Well if yesterday was challenging then today really sucked! I'll be getting up really early for the next few days as I have to be online for 6am to give cover for our APAC clients which is not what I want to be doing. On top of that it remained a really tough day and it was such a relief to get out and back home. I can't take many days like that.

Got home and had a fantastic meal thanks to Toni and then we watched lots of Hell's Kitchen. To make things even better I have booked tickets for Turisas/Korpiklaani in February for my birthday and it looks like I'll be going to see UDO again in January too!

The second half of the day (out of work) was fantastic which was a great relief.

Challenging day and Star Wars Resistance

Today was definitely an 'off' day, very challenging. I woke up an hour early so that I could get an early train to be in the office for upgrade support with one of our Australian clients. The train was cancelled so I was late to the office so the star of the upgrade was delayed.

To make matters worse, my PC went blue screen of death (BSOD) three times before i was even fully logged in making me even later than I thought I was going to be. I got there in the end though and the upgrade was easily done.

The rest of the day was not without it's issues though with various things getting right on my tits plus a further six BSOD incidents!

It was such a relief to get home.

It was time to check out the new Star Wars animated series Star Wars Resistance.

Just like Rebels it is definitely geared for the younger market. I like the fact that the styles used for these shows changes each time. Rebels was made like The Clone Wars and Resistance is not made like Rebels. The show has a very 80s anime/manga style to it which I quite like. The story begins six months before The Force Awakens. In the first episode we had Leia Organa, Poe Dameron and BB-8 with a hint at Captain Phasma.

I quite enjoyed it and it will be interesting to see how things progress.

Jon Favreau announces working title for new Star Wars live action show

So we finally know what the new Star Wars live action show is going to be about. Jon Favreau has announced that it is tentatively title "The Mandalorian".

Whilst there are little other details available at the moment at least we have some idea now. Favreau did mention the following:
"It’s at least tentatively called “The Mandalorian”. For the unfamiliar, Mandalorians are a group of warriors in the Star Wars universe. The most famous Mandalorians are Jango and Boba Fett, though Favreau notes that this series will focus on “another warrior. It’ll take place “after the fall of the Empire” but before the First Order shows up; in other words, after Return of the Jedi but before Force Awakens."

Early start, Solo dice and a day of musicals

My morning started early as I woke up for no reason and couldn't get back to sleep again. Instead I went downstairs and did a couple of hours playing Spider-Man. The postman came while I was playing and I am now the proud recipient of some Han Solo 'lucky' sabbac dice.

Once everyone else was up we went and picked up Jade and then headed to Miggi's for breakfast. After the noms we did some shopping, dropped Jade off back at home and then we had a day of musicals.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show

Grease

Little Shop Of Horrors

Hedwig & The Angry Inch

Present, cafe, Venom and Bella Italia

To celebrate Sam's Creation Day there was time off work. We kicked the day off giving Sam his present, a full collection of Beefeater cow plates.

He loves the one of these that we have so we decided that we'd get him a full set that he can take with him when he finally decides it is time to move out to his own place (and no, it wasn't a hint!).

We then headed to Miggi's, picking up Jade en route, to enjoy a lovely breakfast. We also had fun playing Zombie Dice while we waited.

After the foods Jade went off to do her own thing and Toni, Sam and I headed to Bexleyheath Cineworld to go and see Venom. We hadn't heard good reports about the film but decided to give it a go anyway.

I am pleased to report that the film was pretty good. It was visually stunning and Tom Hardy was great as Eddie Brock struggling to cope with the existence of the symbiote Venom. I have no idea why the film was lumped in with the likes of Catwoman and the Fantastic Four reboot as it was way better than that. It carried a little of the expected Marvel humour (despite this being a Sony film). I would advise you all to ignore the reviews and give Venom a shot. If you do then make sure you stay to the end to get not only a hint at what's next in the Sony Spider-Man villains films but also for a fun segment of Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse (an animated film due out in December).

After the film we popped into Bella Italia for a Creation Day meal that was absolutely delicious.

Happy Creation Day Sam

Happy Creation Day Sam!

Foggy St. Paul's and dinner with Athena & Chip

As I approached the office this morning I was treated to the sight of a foggy St. Paul's.

I am so lucky to work near another iconic building so I hope to be able to catch a few snaps of it during different weather conditions and seasons.

After work it was off to South Kensington to have dinner with Athena and Chip. We had a fantastic time. Chip made an amazing vegetarian meal and then we had the most exquisite gluten free cake! It was so nice to spend time with them and get to know Chip better. We need to do this more often!

Long day, Big Bang, Young Sheldon and Hell's Kitchen

Today was a long one. Train was cancelled first thing so it was standing room only and then a longer than usual walk as we had to get off at London Bridge.

From there on in it was just busy busy busy. Lots to do, lots to try and keep under control and lots of meetings. I ended up leaving much later than I had planned to which was just the icing on the cake.

It was lovely to get home to have a nice meal and then relax watching the start of the new seasons of both The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon.

The first two episodes of both series started well and set them in good standing for the rest. It's the last ever season of Big Bang so hopefully that will end in a sensible way. Young Sheldon is building up well and has lots of scope for further storytelling.

The evening rounded off nicely with some Hell's Kitchen.

Spider-Man

After work today it was time for some PS4 action. I had planned on playing Assassin's Creed Origins but instead got back into the action with Spider-Man. I'm now about 36% of the way through and only stopped because I was tired rather than my usual excuse of being stuck LOL.

It's still easy to get lost just swinging through the streets of New York but I did actually do some of the mission and side missions too. Such an amazing game.

Bad start, good day, RIP Carlos Ezquerra and Hellboy

Well today started really badly with me waking up shattered after having a really disturbed sleep and a nice bout of vomiting. The wheels of commerce have to turn though so I dragged myself into the office as I had a new starter joining.

It turned out to be a good day in the office and quite quiet for a change. Hopefully that will continue for the week.

I was sad to hear that classic 2000AD artist Carlos Ezquerra had passed on. This is the man who created Judge Dredd. He had a very unique style that brought some of my favourite comic characters to life.

Although I have been very cynical about the Hellboy reboot as Ron Perlman was the perfect person to play the role and I was upset that he wasn't recast, I have to confess that the first poster for the new film actually had me quite excited (and frightened at the same time)

They've got the look down for David Harbour, let's hope that they can back it up with a great story!
