Lords Of The Sith

Today I finished my next Star Wars novel in the new canon, Lords Of The Sith.

The plot of the book follows the adventures of Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine as they struggle to escape a trap set by a rebel resistance movement.

Another well written book with a fantastic story arc and some more backfilling of history for well known characters, this time Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader and the way their relationship is developing..

If you like your Star Wars novels leaning to the Dark Side then this is definitely one for you

Back in Star Wars mode

I am well and truly back in Star Wars mode again as the release of Rogue One rapidly approaches. I've temporarily put my quest to read all the Legends novels from start to finish on hold in favour of catching up with the new canon stuff (in order). I started off with Dark Disciple which I managed to burn through at a rate of knots.

Very brief synopsis: A one-time Sith Acolyte teams up with a cocky Jedi to take down a Dark Lord. What could go wrong? Dark Disciple is a brilliant novel. Great story, great characters and a great way to get back into things.

Next up is Lords Of The Sith which I am already a third of the way through. I'll give a brief update on that when I'm done.

Gilette are the latest company to jump onboard with Star Wars universe doing a licensing deal for Rogue One merchandise. They've even done a nice little trailer:

Star Wars 2014 sampler, Star Wars: The Original Marvel Years and Heroes Of Cosplay

It's a good day for Star Wars related books and comics today. Del Rey Books have just released a FREE Star Wars 2014 sampler for the Kindle. This nice little edition contains samples of the following upcoming releases:

Although I am in the process of reading ALL the Star Wars novels from start to finish I might have to take some time out to dip into this little treat!

In other publishing news it has just been announced that Marvel will be releasing a massive omnibus called Star Wars: The Original Marvel Years and it will contain issues Star Wars #1-44 and Annual #1 into one oversize book of delight of 880 pages. 

It's not cheap at $125 and the release is basically a rehash of what Dark Horse Comics already did with their A Long Time Ago... series of releases. It's also not a complete omnibus in that it only covers up to issue #44 so that means there will have to be at least two more volumes for the complete set. Assuming they also retail at  $125 then this is a bit of an ouch factor. Yes it is hardback, yes it is oversize but is it really worth that sort of money as a variant as something that's already out there? Ask me in January (or not)! 

What we are really looking for though is the announcement from Marvel on what they intend to do with the Star Wars franchise now that they are taking over from Dark Horse. Hopefully a new ongoing series will be in the offing at some point in the near future presumably starting with the comic adaption of Episode VII and then expanding on from there.  

I have decided to try and avoid negative posts about work where possible so in the interest my sanity you can expect to see more like this! 

Spent the evening catching up with Heroes Of Cosplay. Watched a few episodes and it's amazing the skills these people have in putting their outfits together. I have a work in progress that will be revealed soon :)
