Fixing things, The Boy, Servant and a Rangers win

Today started off with me bringing one of my Google Home Mini devices back to life as it has been less than reliable of late (ie not working at all). Once this was done we all headed out to Miggi's for breakfast before picking up some supplies in Sainsbury's and then heading home again.

Sam and I had a mini horror fest and watched a couple of films. First up was The Boy which I wanted to see as the sequel is due out soon (I saw the retailer when we went to see The Gentlemen). Greta is a young American woman who takes a job as a nanny in a remote English village, only to discover that the family's 8-year-old is a life-sized doll that the parents care for just like a real boy, as a way to cope with the death of their actual son 20 years prior. After violating a list of strict rules, a series of disturbing and inexplicable events bring Greta's worst nightmare to life, leading her to believe that the doll is actually alive.

If you don't do dolls then do not watch this! I really enjoyed it and am looking forward to the sequel, Brahms: The Boy II.

Next up we watched the first episode of the Apple TV+ series Servant which is an M Night Shyamalam offering. Six weeks after the death of their 13-week-old son, Philadelphia couple Dorothy and Sean Turner hire a young nanny, Leanne, to move in and take care of Baby Jericho, a reborn doll. The doll, which Dorothy believes is her real child, was the only thing that brought her out of her catatonic state following Jericho's death. While Sean deals with the grief on his own, he becomes deeply suspicious of Leanne.

It shows great promise although once again, avoid if you don't like dolls!

Hockey returned property after a ten day break and we watched the Rangers game from last night with them beating the Detroit Dead Things (Red Wings) 4 - 2. Let's up this is the start of a winning streak so that we can get a play off spot.
