Plague continues to linger

Well the plague house continues with Aaron being the only one who has managed to avoid catching anything so far. The rest of us are in various states of disrepair. I've had enough of it all now and today I missed out on the chance to have coffee with Dad as well as being unable to attend a sold out Psychic TV gig.

The day was mainly made up of coughing and spluttering, aching joints, lots of drugs and a TV catch up plus more Hell's Kitchen. Oh, and we threw in a New York Rangers game for good measure too!

I've also been doing some reading, something I don't do enough of. My book of choice at the moment is Wishful Drinking by Carrie Fisher. It's a very witty but sad book and well worth picking up.

Off sick and bumper crop of Star Wars The Force Awakens videos

Well it was a grim Monday that's for sure. I was still recovering from that damn cold so it was no work for me :(

On the plus side there was much Star Wars goodness to be had. First up there were two new TV spots (well one is the proper version of the one I posted on Saturday so it's sort of new!):

Next up we have the first full clip that has been released courtesy of the American Music Awards. It's not really a spoiler but don't watch this if you are trying to shelter yourself from the visual prior to The Force Awakens actually being released.

Last but not least we have a wonderful acapaella version of some iconic Star Wars themes courtesy of Pentatonix and performed at the American Music Awards, introduced by Harrison Ford:

Plague house

Once again we've turned into a plague house. Toni, Sam, Pam, Zoe and I have all come down with a nasty cold. Toni and I missed going to see Giselle and the Dolmen Grove Essex Moot. Instead we spent the day feeling sorry for ourselves, dosing up on various meds and/or having a bath. Poor old Pam was in a really bad way and we'll be phoning the GP for her tomorrow as we think she has a chest infection.

Not the best way to finish off a weekend that's for sure. The only real saving grace was finishing off Season Six of Hells Kitchen.

O2 Priority Star Wars video plus some more TV spots

Ooooh look, another Star Wars The Force Awakens video, this time from O2 as part of their Priority Rewards scheme.

Speaking of O2 Priority Rewards, here are a couple of my awesome Star Wars goodies that I have acquired as part of their scheme:

Lightsaber keyring:

Pop up speaker:

As the day progressed today a new TV spot hit Youtube. The only version I have found so far is this low quality one on a mobile. Can't wait to see the real thing!

Further searching has also revealed a segment from the Disney Channel where we get some more footage and our first look at new character Maz Kanata at around the 00:17 mark.

Fun Star Wars videos, one honest and one a swede

Following on from my recent post with the Honest Trailers version of The Force Awakens, here is their take on A New Hope:

Next up is a sweded version of one of the The Force Awakens trailers. For those that don't know, sweding is re-making something from scratch using whatever you can get your hands on. A great example of this is Jack Black's move Be Kind, Rewind.

And here's the side by side version for comparison:

Star Wars Battlefront goodies

Well despite my initial misgivings about Star Wars Battlefront I have relented and bought it!

Being the raging fangirl that I am I enhanced my purchase with a few extra goodies!

Star Wars Battlefront deluxe strategy guide which also came with a folio containing four awesome prints:

Of course it would be rude just to play Star Wars Battlefront on the PS4 using the standard controlled and as I wasn't in a position to go the whole hog and buy the Darth Vader PS4 I did decide to get the Darth Vader controller to compliment it.

There's a nice little pre-game that you can play while the game installs which is really rather cool :)

New TV spot and more The Force Awakens stuff...

There's a new The Force Awakens TV spot now available that this time focuses on Finn.

It's also time for another Star Wars The Force Awakens supercut video. This one contains all the footage released so far from trailers and TV spots. The transitions aren't as smooth as some of the other ones but it gets the job done!

Here's a fun video listing EIGHT Star Wars games that you should play before The Force Awakens hits the cinema.

Anniversary meal at The Tudor Barn

Toni and I went back to The Tudor Barn for an anniversary meal. It's hard to believe that three years ago we were married there.

When we booked we had notified them that it was our wedding anniversary which resulted in a free glass of bubbly, result!

Our started was a shared platter with baked camembert and GLUTEN FREE bread!

Main course was a surf and turf to share. One whole lobster and a 22oz T-bone steak with chips, carrots and salad.

The whole meal was absolutely delicious, gorgeously cooked and the perfect way to spend our wedding anniversary. Once again The Tudor Barn did us proud!

We had no room for pudding so finished off with Baileys Coffee.

Happy Anniversary

Three glorious years of marriage and eight years together and just as much in love now as we were then!

Helloween book and EXO's dodgy Lightsaber video

Got home from work today to find an amazing package waiting for me. Here is the limited edition Hellbook, a 30th Anniversary book from German metal legends Helloween. It is a mighty tome of really high quality and I can't wait to dive in, all signed and everything.

I stuck on a few Helloween tracks to listen to and the next thing I know I've booked tickets to go and see them live in February!

I came across a video today by a Korean pop band called EXO. I got a bit excited as the song is called Lightsaber and it claims to be a Star Wars: The Force Awakens collaboration.

Technically speaking it has naff all to do with Star Wars but does have our young "heroes" wielding lightsabers with the song referring to them.
.

I am not actually sure how I feel about it, I'm not really into K-Pop boy bands and the song is definitely 'boy band by numbers' but it does have a sort of vibe about it. I feel dirty!

Yoshiki support @ Classic Rock Awards

After work I trotted off to The Roundhouse to meet Tom from JPU Records for a special meeting that he had put together. X Japan leader Yoshiki was appearing at the Classic Rock Awards and so he was arranging to get a large group of X Japan fans together to show their support as he did the Red Carpet walk. We had a good number of people there and were all presented with a Born To Be Free t-shirt to wear as we showed support.

Apparently the management of the Roundhouse (or maybe some of the artists) weren't too happy at having such a large gathering of X Japan fans hanging around. We weren't causing trouble or rowdy at all so it wasn't clear what their concerns were but they didn't try and move us on.

First down on the Red Carpet was Blackberry Smoke:

They were followed by We Are Harlot:

Not sure where he fitted on the 'Classic' Rock front but Bill Oddie was there looking very glamourous:

Finally the moment came when Yoshiki arrived and we all got a little bit more excited:

It was a great feeling to be there with so many wonderful X Japan fans showing our love and support for one of our heroes. Big thanks to Tom for organising everything.

Stress free and Hell's KItchen

The working day was unremarkable which was a welcome change. It came and went with no drama and no stress. I'd be happy to have more days like this!

Got home from work and had a delicious before burning through the final few episodes of Hell's Kitchen Season 2. I think we might be getting a little bit addicted to it. Only another eight seasons to work our way through!

I am now booked to see it SIX times. 5 on the day of release as I have now added in the midnight showing plus one extra on the 18th. Oh I can't wait!

Drum Circle

It wasn't the best of days at work today so it was a relief to be able to get home for a chance to relax. Got changed and had a yummy meal and then Toni and I went to Giselle's to take part in the first of what will become a monthly Drum Circle.

There were only four of us there but it was a great experience. We connected with a group in Wales and some other people and drummed some healing into the world. Drums, chanting and meditation is the perfect way to shake off a bad week and get connected with the universe.

Oh, and we had fire too, fire is always good!

More The Force Awakens trailers

Since the final trailer for The Force Awakens hit we've had some extra ones doing the rounds. I'll kick things off with this music only version. Whilst the dialogue and sound effects one is great the power of John Williams' scoring takes over here. No words necessary!

Next up we have this cleverly edited SUPER CUT version that combines the three trailers together into what the creator believes is a story order.

Last but not least we have one for the Prequel Trilogy deniers and haters!

Frustrating day, Minion Hat, Hell's Kitchen and Rangers win

It was a very frustrating day today but also mildly amusing. I won't bore you with the details but it ended up with me having lots of Gordon Ramsey style quotes sitting at the front of my brain wanting to leap out and take shape! Fortunately I am a professional and kept myself in check rather than going upstairs and saying, "You, you and you, just fuck off!" *grin*

Toni made an awesome Minion hat which Sam loved and took great delight in modelling, even though it wasn't the best fit LOL
I'd picked up on a new series which we decided to give a go, Ash Vs Evil Dead. We expected some good comedy but there was a little bit more horror and gore in there than we had expected which was a little too much for Toni.

Here's the trailer for anyone intrigued by this new series:

To get Toni back in the zone we spent the rest of the evening watching the remainder of Season 12 of Hell's Kitchen. We just had to make our way all the way to the end as it starting getting really exciting. The only down side is that's the end of it and there are no more to watch after that.

Our day turned into a long one as we watched the New York Rangers take on the Washington Capitals. Rangers opened the scoring taking the 1 - 0 lead at 07:59 with a wrist shot from Oscar Lindberg. Capitals tied it up at 1 - 1 at 15:45 with a snap shot from Ovechkin. Kevin Hayes put the Rangers 2 - 1 up at 17:46 with a nice snap shot. First period ended with the Rangers leading 2 - 1.  Shots on goal were NYR 9 and WSH 8.

01:53 into the second and Kevin Klein makes a beautiful wrist shot to push the Rangers 3 - 1 up after successfully killing off a penalty. After some frantic defending over a long shift the Rangers get another break and Derrick Brassard put the Rangers 4 - 1 up at 06:59. Capitals grab one back to make it 4 - 2 at 18:53 after a massive period of offence. The Rangers almost made it 5 - 2 but the puck crossed the line just after the buzzer went. Second period ended with the Rangers leading 4 - 2. Shots on goal were NYR 2 (11) and WSH 14 (22).

The Rangers came out flying at the start of the third. The Capitals mounted a strong attack but Lundqvist stood strong. Having missed out on a power play opportunity the Rangers then went 5 - 2 up with a corker from Jarret Stoll at 10:53. Both teams had good chances as the period progressed. Third period ended with the Rangers winning 5 - 2. Shots on goal were NYR 10 (21) and WSH 12 (34).

Bouncing back girly style

After my brain fart yesterday I woke up feeling a little numb and off centre. Determined to make a full bounce back I slapped on a bit of make up, donned some girly shoes and headed to work feeling fabulous!

....and that was all it took to get me back on track. I was out of my weird slump and on top of the world once again! Phew!

The evening was spent in the company of Gordon Ramsey and Hell's Kitchen.

This has become compulsive viewing of late, it's such an enjoyable series although I do feel that I am learning far too many Ramsey style quotes!

Anxiety/panic attack

Today was a bit of a mixed bag. I woke up feeling a lot better and my lurgs seemed to have taken a back seat which I was delighted about. This meant that I would be able to attend the Dolmen Grove Essex Moot Samhain Ceremony. Toni and I got ready, picked up Giselle and then drove over to Grays. So far so good.

We got there in good time and walked over to the venue ready to set up and then I started to feel strange I then started to get visual distortions which is usually my lead up to a migraine so I headed back to the car and took some ibuprofen and pulled up my hood to block out some light. I was in no state to go anywhere so stayed in the car while Toni and Giselle went off to the Ceremony. At some point during my time there Giselle dropped off some codeine for me.

In the darkness while listening to some relaxation music I did some meditation on what had just transpired. Piecing things together it appeared that I had become the victim of an anxiety/panic attack. I then had to try and dig deeper to see if I could work out what had caused this frustrating manifestation. I think this may well have been a horrible gender dysphoria moment as it was the first time in a while that I had been out in a skirt. It probably all started when Pam started asking Toni questions before we left (one of the reasons why I had been toning it down a bit) although I didn't really bat an eyelid at the time but for whatever reason my brain just exploded for no apparent reason when we got to the moot.

It left me in a very strange mental state. I've had depression in the past and it felt a whole lot like that. Not good, I can tell you! Now comes the fun part of trying to stitch everything back together and trying to get myself back to where I need to be before I head down a path I don't want to be on.

If you hear me saying this in the near future, the chances are it's a lie although I am not expecting to be saying it!!!!!

I'm not down that path at the moment though, I have bounced back and I have great support from Toni before anybody starts to worry too much!
