It took Gemima a few moments to process things as she was confronted by this
After a short while queuing and we made it through the ridiculous Brixton Academy security/entry system we got inside to find that things had already started. I am getting quite used to missing bits of the support bands at the Brixton Academy because they can't get people inside quickly although it does really annoy me.
PAIN
I knew nothing of Pain prior to going to this gig, hadn't even heard of them until the day before. That said they were a pretty good warm up band and were really well received by the audience and although their music was new to me there were lots of people there who were very familiar with it. It's always good to discover new bands like this and I'll certainly be checking out more of their material now that I have seen them live. I do like industrial metal and these guys area a worthy addition to the genre.

NIGHTWISH
With an impressive stage construction and fantastic sound it was wall to wall hits and classics once Nightwish hit the stage. New singer Floor Jansen (formerly of After Forever and now ReVamp) took no prisoners and you'd never have known that she had only just stood in for the recently departed Anette Olzon who left the band mid tour. Her voice fits well though and everything sounded like the Nightwish that we wanted to see!

I was absolutely delighted that they played Amaranth
Final song of the night was a rousing version of The Last Ride
Poor old Gemima was shattered by the end of it all and fell asleep on the train but she said it was worth it!
