DV8 Fest @ The Duchess

Toni, Laura, Dan and I headed out to The Duchess in York for the first night of DV8 Fest. It was a cracking night of entertainment.

JORDAN REYNE
Proceedings were opened by Jordan Reyne who mixed a blend of Alanis Morissette and Tori Amos with a soundscape of industrial. She is a very talented artist who I will definitely be checking out more of.

ANDREW O'NEILL
Some between act entertainment was provided by stand up comedian Andrew O'Neill. He has a winning formula that kept everyone chuckling away.

ED TUDOR POLE
If Ed Tudor Pole needs any sort of introduction then shame on you! Frontman for Tenpoe Tudor, a brief stint with the Sex Pistols and the man who replaced Richard O'Brian on The Crystal Maze, Ed Tudor Pole is a man of many talents. Tonight we were treated to some pure punk rock n roll with a healthy dose of humour chucked in for good measure.

BLACKBEARD'S TEA PARTY
Now this one was a real shocker! Talk about what you see is not what you get. Blackbeard's Tea Party hit the stage and I thought WTF? Then they started playing, the singer started and I was a convert! They have a really BIG sound and some novel percussion!

Mr O'Neill returned to the stage to share some more witty banter before introducing his band

They put the punk into steampunk and they did it very well. TMTWNBBFN were on fire tonight. A nice mash up of songs including two excellent new ones.
