Weymouth Old Town Hall Bell

Holiday time and Toni, Gemima and I headed off to Weymouth. The event this time was the first ever ringing of the newly fitted bell at Weymouth Old Town Hall with a performance from The Dolmen with their song "The Old Town Hall Bell".
We went and picked up Mandy en route then headed off to Steve Booth's to get ready. Something piratey was afoot!

Once suitably atired, and some grim firewater later, we all headed off to the Old Town Hall for the bell ceremony. The building looks fantastic with the bell back in place.

There was a good turnout for the event:

Here's the ceremony. Sounds quality suffers a little as a lot of people were talking while it was going on!

The Dolmen performance was really good. I got roped into adding some percussion through the medium of a shaker. Only problem was that there was NO shaker so we had to improvise. Queue one plastic jug and some plastic spoons! There is a video that someone took that I am trying to get hold to post up here.

We were then treated to a short set of shanties from The Dorset Wrecks

After that it was time to have a drink and just chill out and enjoy a floodlit Old Town Hall.

Once everyone had gone Toni, Gemima, Steve, Mel and I went in search of food which resulted in us having kebabs and cheesy chips on the beach. Luxury! It was a fantastic evening spent with great friends!
