No parcel, Miggi's, Rocket League, Lizzie Borden and Suits

The start today wasn't too early which was a relief. I started off getting excited about a delivery I was expecting but I got a notification that the package won't arrive until Monday so that was part of my weekend plans put on hold LOL.

Toni and I ventured out in the heat to have breakfast at Miggi's. It was nice relaxed affair with the added bonus of Toni being given a belated birthday card and present from Miggi.

When we got home I opened a package from Amazon to find my copies of Rocket League and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus. As Toni isn't really into games with bullets firing all the time I decided to play Rocket League first.

She made a brilliant post on Facebook about the whole thing:
Toni Glitz: KT Glitz is playing a PS4 game which involves cars and football at the same time. I am concerned that he may have been replaced by an alien who didn’t do any research about him!
Jon Jones: Meaning that KT can’t drive and doesn’t view footballers as god-like entities?!

Exactly! KT usually has no interest in cars or football.
Rocket League is a very silly game with cars used as players. Described as "soccer, but with rocket-powered cars", Rocket League has one to four players assigned to each of the two teams, using rocket-powered vehicles to hit a ball into their opponent's goal and score points over the course of a match. The entertainment value more than made up for the fact that I was hardly a star player on my teams LOL.

We got back to watching some Lizzie Borden Chronicles which we had taken break from. Now there's a show that doesn't like to follow a linear plot and throws in the odd 'well damn' moments.

Some more Suits finished the day off as it's such a good show :)

Leisurely day, Pokemon Go and RuPaul's Drag Race

Today ran at a more leisurely pace than usual which was a welcome change. It was still busy but we were able to keep things controlled (mostly).

The only downer of the day was having a meeting scheduled for 16:45 which meant I didn't get to leave on time and had to work a bit later. Still, I managed to achieve a few things on Pokemon Go on the walk back to the station and then having to wait for Sam. If anyone out there wants to add me as a  friend on Pokemon Go then here are my details:

We watched the final RuPaul's Drag Race Season 10. This did not go how we had expected. Initially we though that Asia O'Hara would win this one so it was a surprise to see her get eliminated during the first lip-sync challenge. The butterfly reveal was cringeworthy though. Strange things were afoot when the next lip-sync challenge was called as a tie so that three queens rather than two went on the final lip-sync. It was a strong showing with Aquaria, Eureka and Kameron Michales going for it.

We thought that Kameron had it in the bag so it was actually quite a shock for the prize to go Aquaria. Our view was that she was a bit young and inexperienced to be the world-wide ambassador for the Drag Race brand so we'll see how she deals with that as the months ensue.

Now we have to endure that long wait until the next season starts up!

Bella Italia and Solo: A Star Wars Story

After a busy day at work we scooched off to Bexleyheath for dinner and a movie.

Food was delicious and suitably stuffed we waddled round to Cineworld to see Solo: A Star Wars Story. I love this film, it's a great action movie that sits well in the Star Wars universe. Any so-called Star Wars fans who boycotted this to 'prove a point' have sadly missed out on a great film and made the fans look stupid.

Second time round was even better and I picked up on many more little pleaser things that had been dropped in.

A friend with mead is a friend indeed

As some of you might be aware we are rather partial to a drop of mead in Glitzville, especially the German stuff which we order in in large quatities.

We had the pleasure of Helen and Keith visiting us again today to come and collect some of the mead. Thankfully the visit wasn't brief so we all got to have a good old natter and catch up. I think we've set the world to rights but watch this space!
This was a nice way to relax after what was actually a very stressful day that involved having to track down some large sums of money that it was believed were lost. Thankfully it was just a case of it going to a test system rather than in the unknown!

Drumming workshop

There's nothing that takes the edge of a hot busy day than chilling out at a drum workshop.

Toni went round to Giselle's to participate in our monthly drum workshop group tonight. We are a small group that conjure up some amazing energy. Our focus is how our personal elemental energies ebb and flow and interact with those of the earth. Some of the visions and thoughts were very powerful.

As ever our drumming transcended reality and it was accompanied by a flute as well which added an extra dimension to our workings. It was really beautiful and we left relaxed and excited for the future having done some manifestation work as well.

Uncharted day

Well following on from yesterday it turned out I did have a chance for lots of PS4 time today.  Well, after a good long bit of extra sleep.

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End was my weapon of choice and I spent most of the day playing. I haven't played it for months and had forgotten how much I enjoy the game. I made really good progress throughout the day completing seven levels and now the end is in sight. I did have to stop playing though as I reached a bit that I was struggling with and was starting to get grumpy. I'll give it a good few days break before attempting it again LOL.

Any downtime was spent on watching having some good old belly laughs to Mock The Week.

Lazy day

We had a nice lazy morning today before heading out to Eltham to grab breakfast at Miggy's.

Any plans for the afternoon were suspended as we were all full of lovely food. Toni, Sam and I started watching Andy Parsons Slacktivist show. They both crashed out in the middle of it but I was wide awake and enjoyed the whole show LOL.

I managed to get in some PS4 time playing a bit of Star Wars Battlefront II and also some Rayman Legends. It was nice to play again, I should make more time to do it.

The rest of the day was spent watching Young Sheldon and Suits.

Interviews continue and crashing out

It was a better day at work today which was a relief. It was still busy but no stress or frustration. Did another interview for one our support vacancies which went well so hopefully we can get this guy signed up quickly. Having to fill 6 positions over 2 roles is taking way too long.....

It took a while to get home as Sam was running late although I didn't mind waiting around as it was a nice evening and I had a chance to progress with Pokemon Go.

Battlebots and RuPaul's Drag Race was our first viewing choice before I crashed out on the sofa and had to have an early night LOL. Clearly I was more tired than I had realised.

Frustrating day

It was a busy and somewhat frustrating day today.
What started as a normal planning session ended up with tempers frayed and raised voices. There was hardly time to come up for air as my day was back to back meetings and so managing the situation was challenging. Add to that one P1 issues and the day was suddenly stressful as well.

It was such a relief to get home and relax. Good food and the last episodes of Brooklyn Nine-Nine did the trick.

Toni's birthday celebrations

Once work was done we set about celebrating Toni's birthday. Mum sent her some lovely flowers and a bottle of prosecco.

Helen and Keith popped over for a couple of hours. It was great to see them again albeit for a short time.

Presents were given much to Toni's delight. Zoe had already done hers as she had taken Toni for breakfast in the morning. Sam enabled Toni's bath game to be upped by 4 points with these wonderful gifts:
Rubber duck bath thermometer

Bath PUG

I was up next with a book on drum healing:

.....and a beautiful tank/hang/ohm drum

After Helen and Keith had gone Toni, Sam, Zoe and I headed to Bexleyheath to meet Jade and Aaron for a meal at Zizzi. It was a great way to end the day having a birthday meal with family.

Happy Birthday Toni

Happy Birthday to my beautiful wife

Hope you have a great day!
Love you loads

Star Wars films

This wouldn't be a blog of mine if I didn't get back to talking Star Wars again at some point so here goes with a little update

Given the negative reaction to Episode VIII: The Last Jedi and Solo: A Star Wars Story's failure to light up the box office it might be surprising to learn that there are apparently NINE Star Wars films in various stages of development. If it unclear what these are at this moment in time or whether or not it includes Episode IX. So here is some information on what we do know

  • Rian Johnson has already been confirmed to be signed on to produce a new trilogy (more info here)
  • Game Of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B.Weiss are going to write a produce a series of Star Wars films (more info here)
  • There are rumours (but still not officially conformed) that we will be seeing two more character movies on the form of Obi-Wan and Boba Fett but it remains to be seen whether or not this actually turns out to be true.

Of course there are no timelines for any of these things so it will be interesting to see if Lucasfilm stick to the one film a year plan that we've seen so far. The could take a Marvel approach and try and release two films a year or perhaps a more relaxed schedule will come in as some people seem to feel that Star Wars fatigue is setting in.

Whatever the truth might be it still looks like Star Wars films have a good future ahead of them.

Oh, and just in case you were wondering..............................

Talking of Episode IX, well we are now.... There is a very strong rumour doing that rounds that we will be seeing Mr Billy Dee Williams reprising his role as Lando Calrissian! This would be brilliant to see!

Knackered.....

Today I have been mostly knackered due getting an escalation phone call at 00:30 and having to work until 03:30 and then do a normal day!

I made it into work on time but it was a bit of a struggle. Strong coffee was the order of the day. I bailed out at lunchtime so that I could WFH in the afternoon as I had a busy schedule plus I was also lined up to be on call for a client live implementation between 4 and 8 so it made sense to not be travelling home in the middle of that.

A busy afternoon soon led into on call time. Thankfully despite having a couple of calls there was nothing serious to be sorted out and everything was good with the client. Happy days.

Chillout time was spent watching many more episodes of Suits.

An early night was needed in order for me to be sort of operational tomorrow!

Early start, NXT Takeover: Chicago, Dietland and Pose

In stark contrast to yesterday I woke up early today and couldn't get back to sleep again. As Toni was happily snoozing still I got dressed and headed downstairs. I started catching up with NXT Takeover: Chicago 2018.

Although NXT has seen some its key stars move up to the WWE main rosters it still remains a strong brand and is still better viewing than RAW or Smackdown (I stopped watching RAW and Smackdown over a year ago but I continue to watch NXT every week.

First up we saw Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan take on Undisputed Era for the NXT Tag Team Championship. This was a good opener with plenty of near falls before Undisputed Era got the win and retained their belts.

Next up was Velveteen Dream taking on Ricochet. This was a fun match watching Dream do loads of Ricochet's move to try and psych him out. Needless to say this only lasted so long before Ricochet turned the tables. It was hard to call this one as both are good athletes who take risks. In the end Ricochet held out to win a fantastic match.

The Women's Title was on the line next as mad Scot Nikki Cross took on defending champion Shayna Baszler. This was a match I couldn't wait to see with Baszler's MMA style against Cross' off the wall madness. This was never going to be a match of wrestling prowess but it was certainly entertaining. Unsurprisingly Baszler won by being put to sleep but I suspect this feud is far from over!

Aleister Black defended his NXT Title against Lars Sullivan. This match was athleticism (Black) versus brawn (Sullivan). This was another great match. Sullivan is surprisingly versatile given his size and stature. There was some great close calls before Black finally retained after two Black Mass spinning heel kicks.

Last up was Johnny Gargano versus Tommaso Ciampa in a Chicago Street Fight. This feud has been going on for a LOOONG time and so for me it's lost a bit of sparkle and excitement especially as Ciampa has come out the victor in most of their meets. The match was good overall with the Street Fight element being played well with some brutal parts. Gargano flipping out was genius but it was so disappointing to have Ciampa walk away with the win once again. Who knows where the feud goes after this......

Once Toni was up we watched the first three episodes of Dietland which is a new series. The show explores the beauty industry and society's obsession with weight loss. Everybody should watch this show for the learning experience.

We then followed this up with Pose. Pose is set in the world of 1987 and "looks at the juxtaposition of several segments of life and society in New York: the rise of the luxury Trump-era universe, the downtown social and literary scene and the ball culture world." I think this one has some potential although Toni was less than impressed. I might watch a couple more episodes and see what happens.

Sam came back from a weekend in Southend to present me with this wonderful Father's Day gift:

Thankfully it doesn't have sound and do the whole, "NOOOOOOOO" thing!

We caught up with RuPaul's Drag Race and Battlebots while we ate dinner and then finished the day off back on the Suits trail.

Happy Father's Day

Wishing our dads a happy Father's Day!

Love from KT & Toni

Late start, Queer Eye and Suits

We didn't get up until after noon today. We haven't done this for a long time and it was so nice to have that extra chilled time in bed.

We got up and made tea and then settled down to watch Season 2 of Queer Eye on Netflix. I adore this show and Season 2 was just as good. Being the big emotional goof that I am there were a few watery leaks each episode.

Dinner came courtesy of Zizzi (via the magic of Deliveroo). This is wonderful but awful at the same time! The food from Zizzi is delicious but it ain't cheap and having it available for home delivery now mean more temptation LOL. It was very nice though :)

The last bit of our evening was spent watching the start of Season 2 of Suits. We've only juts discovered this little gem that has been running for 7 seasons now and stars Megan Markle who is now a member of the British royal family. The show has a fine blend of great storylines, character growth and humour. Who would have thought that a show about lawyers could be interesting LOL.

In other news we rescued a cat that was stuck on the roof of the extension next door!

Slower paced day and Lucifer is saved #SaveLucifer

It was a much slower paced day today which was a welcome change. No emergencies, not a lot of issues and I even got to go home earlier than usual. RESULT!

Just before Season 3 of Lucifer ended it was announced that Fox had decided to cancel the show much to our disgust. The show was doing well and had a massive fanbase but became the victim of corporate decisions. Brooklyn Nine-Nine was another show that received a mysterious cancellation from Fox but after an internet campaign it was picked up by Amazon so the show would continue.

Lucifer leading man Tom Ellis was determined to try and find a new home for Lucifer and there was a #SaveLucifer campaign started by the fanbase and stars of the show. The good news was received today that those good guys at Netflix had picked up the show and so there will now be a Season 4 (and hopefully beyond).  I can't tell you how amazing this news is for everyone here in Glitzville.

All go at work

Well it's still all go on the work front. Wearing three hats hasn't broken me.....yet!

Some days are quieter than others but invariably they are all very busy days and a 9-5.30 lifestyle isn't happening but at least I am not having to work stupid hours at the moment.

My hard work is finally being rewarded, we have office drama, grumpy clients and grumpy stuff but the plates are still spinning and the wheels are still turning. It's all good!

I have some interesting resource challenges coming up but I'm sure we'll muddy on through as usual and come out laughing at the other end. well I hope so at least......

#ForceOutHate

Sometimes Star Wars fans can be the biggest bunch of a***holes in the world. Some of them seem to live in a world where they can't be happy unless they are bitching about the universe they profess to love so much.

When The Force Awakens was doing the rounds Daisy Ridley was forced to shutdown her Instagram account due to receiving a load of abuse from so-called fans. Now Kelly Marie Tran has had to do the same after suffering from months of racial and sexual harassment. This is frankly disgusting behaviour from people who are just not able to deal with the direction that their beloved Star Wars is moving with claims of having their childhoods destroyed. Maybe the problem is they never matured and grew up!

Now I still love all things Star Wars past and present (well maybe with the exception of The Holiday Special) and I am happy to see how things continue to develop.

The clip below is beautifully done and has things spot on. Watch from the two minute mark if it doesn't start there automatically.

Cloak & Dagger

Tonight we started watching Marvel's latest episodic TV series Cloak & Dagger.

Two episodes in and I was very impressed. I was aware of the comic series but didn't know too much about it but I like the way things unfold in this TV series. It's a slowly unfolding story that will grow over time and after the second episode I shouted at the TV because I wanted to see more and now I have to wait until Thursday for the next one! For me that's the sign of good storytelling :)

I'm back again

I'm back, did you miss me?

After a break of nearly five months I decided it was time to get back into boring you all with the random journey that is my life. Sorry if you were enjoying the silence but it's time to saddle up again and fill this space with more useless bumph LOL

I might sneak the odd entry in prior to today but consider this my official return date!
