Sam and I headed off to Leicester tonight to see SPiT LiKE THiS and Nemhain at the Leicester Square venue. We started to panic a bit because train stopped en route due to a car hitting a bridge but thankfully we weren't that late. After chuckling at some guy doing some really dire rapping we headed off in search of the venue (to get our bearings) and then went in search of food. Leicester is such a bleak depressing place but we managed to find a Pizza Hut (as I didn't fancy McNastys).
Once we were recharged we headed back to the venue. It was quite a nice place but we were very surprised to see that there was no advertising for the gig, not even a poster on the inside (let alone the outside). We had a quick chat with Vikki, Cyndi and Giles from SPiT LiKE THiS before proceedings started.
The "DJ" was very unimaginative, opting to just stick on a Cradle Of Filth CD for the duration (presumably because the Nemhain drummer used to be in Cradle Of Filth) and it was not a good move! First band on only played about three songs and then left the stage as there were no people there (other than two girls who were there friends) and the singer's voice was going so he wanted to rest it as they were about to go on a tour. The weirdest thing was them saying the promoter was a great guy (which he may well have been but his "promotion" left a lot to be desired!). Musically they were like a less good version of some of the screamcore bands that played on the Scuzz stage at Hellfire.
After the merciful release of the first band leaving the stage we had a chat with Mike and Donna (part of the SLT entourage) before the reason we were here hit the stage
SPIT LIKE THIS
These guys are so great. Despite there being only 10 people in the venue they still came out and put on a show as if it was sold out. As usual they played all the usual greats plus a couple of treats thrown in for good measure, namely Act Of God (played live for the first time ever) and then Sweet TranSMURFite (the Rocky Horror Show classic but with a Smurf theme which was hilarious)

After SPiT LiKE THiS were done Sam and I went back and had another chat with Donna and then Vikki appeared brandishing a couple of beers for Sam and I which were very well received! In the absence of a bottle opener I tried to use my pen knife before Donna managed to get the top off with her teeth, despite me telling her it was a bad idea (but I was glad she managed it without any damage). Here she is just after removing the bottle top:
Following our drink we decided to give Nemhain some support even though we hadn't seen them before but it had to be done given the "huge" audience (which was still no more than ten!)
NEMHAIN
Nemhain were really good. Kind of like a Misfits-lite crossed with the Circle Jerks (not a great description but the best I could think if when writing this). I really enjoyed their set and was also impressed with the fact that played as if there weren't ten people there (although they did make lots of sarky comments for the benefit of the promoter)

After the gig we hung out with the bands and helped SPiT LiKE THiS load up the bus. Some mad photographer started snapping pics of the bands before they left and we were all dragged into the photo:
After the photo we then clambered aboard the SLT bus for the long drive back to Gatwick. The original plan was to get a lift back to Gatwick station then get the train to London and then two night buses over to Eltham to stay at Toni's mum's. As it was Toni had a moment of (very welcome) insanity and she drove to Gatwick airport to meet us and drive us back to Eltham.
