Lazy day, vampire movies and New York Rangers lose to Columbus

It was a lazy day today. Nobody got up before twelve! There was breakfast (well, lunch really), there was a Haven catch up and then Toni, Sam and I went into vampire movie mode. Van Helsing, Underworld and Underworld Evolution were our weapons of choice.

This was today:

The day finished off with New York Rangers v Columbus Blue Jackets. Cam Talbot started in goal for the Rangers tonight showing the team still have confidence in his abilities and giving Henrik Lundqvist a rest. It was a poor start for the Rangers with the Blue Jackets taking a 0 - 1 lead after 06:25. Rangers did up the pace a little after that and had some good chances on the power play. Blue Jackets made it 0 - 2 at 17:33. First period ended NYR 0 - 2 CBJ. Shots on goal were NYR 10, CBJ 7.

Second period was another slow start for the Rangers until Stempniak closed the gap and made it 1 - 2. at 05:43. Sadly it wasn't long before the Blue Jackets were at it again and it was 1 - 3. Rangers piled on some pressure and Nash and St Louis had a great setup but an incredible save denied them a goal. Second period ended NYR 1 - 3 CBJ. Shots on goal were NYR 8 (18), CBJ 8 (15).

Third period started 4 on 4 before the Rangers had a short power play. Sadly they didn't create any chances there. Rangers mounted some good offense with plenty of action around the Blue Jackets goal which should have resulted in a Rangers power play but ended up as another 4 on 4.  At 13:47 the game started to slip away as the Blue Jackets got another to make it 1 - 4. Rangers weren't going to give up though and cut the Blue Jackets' lead to 2 - 4 at 14:19 with a good shot from Nash. Cam Talbot was pulled with three minutes left for the extra man advantage. It was no surprise that at 18:39 the Blue Jackets scored on the empty net to make it 2 - 5. Final score was NYR 2 - 5 CBJ. Shots on goal were NYR 8 (26), CBJ 9 (24).
