I was working from home today for the first time in what seems like ages. It was a novelty to be doing it again.
After the working stuff Toni and I popped over to see Jodie to drop off a few things and see her, Ahmed and the babies. They seem to get bigger every time we see them.
With a bit of fear and trepidation we stayed up to watch New York Rangers v Pittsburgh Penguins. Thankfully the Rangers came out all guns blazing. There was lots of pressure on the Penguins with some great fore checking from the Rangers. Mats Zuccarello put the Rangers 1 - 0 up at 08:23 straight from a face off. Martin St. Louis made it 2 - 0 at 10:59. Some pressure by Pittsburgh was soon soother as Kevin Klein made it 3 - 0 at 14:47. The first period ended with the Rangers leading 3 - 0. Shots on goal for the first period were NYR: 16, PIT: 14.
Second period start with the Rangers successfully killing off a penalty. Pittsburgh upped their game and things were a little more even. After a video review the Rangers were denied a 4th goal. Bad call but hey ho. There was a resulting power play though with Derick Brassard managed to convert and so the Rangers were 4 - 0 up! Pittsburgh kept the pressure on but just couldn't get the puck passed Lundqvist. Second period ended with the Rangers holding on to their 4 - lead. Shots on goal for the second period were NYR: 13 (29), PIT: 10 (24).
Pittsburgh started the third period looking desperate to try and turn things around. As Pittsburgh went back on the power play Lundqvist pulled off some incredible stops. Once again the Rangers penalty kill worked well. It wasn't long before Pittsburgh were on the power play again but this time Rick Nash popped in a short handed goal to make it 5 - 0 at 07:45 make him the league's top goal scorer (with 12 goals). The period ended with Lundqvist getting a shut out and a 5 - 0 Rangers win! Shots on goal for the third period were NYR: 6 (35), PIT: 9 (33).
Now that's the New York Rangers team that I know and love! A true return to form and a healthy spanking of the team at the top of the conference. Let's Go Rangers!
