Last day off, Star Wars digital releases and Rangers win the President's Trophy

It was my last day off today. Sadly this meant that I didn't get another extra long sleep as there were things to do. Such is life when there is a house inspection looming. BOO!

My first bit of excitement came with the news that Disney have just released the Star Wars collection in a digital format. iTunes was pushing it hard.

I have a strange feeling I will be making a purchase! LOL

The big thing for me though was waiting for the New York Rangers v New Jersey Devils game. One point would see the Rangers win the Eastern Conference and two points would see them win the League as well and raise the President's Trophy. The game was a bit feisty to start with but the Rangers power play was woeful which was really disappointing considering it was a 5 on 3. Considering what was at stake there was no real urgency from the Rangers. Rangers upped the pressure and took a 1 - 0 lead as Kevin Hayes got the job done at 13:45. Ryan McDonagh then made it 2 - 0 with a power play goal at 14:32. Devils clawed one back at 17:44 on the power play. First period ended with the Rangers leading 2 - 1. Shots on goal were Rangers 19, Devils 4.

The Rangers started the second period well. Cam Talbot made a couple of good saves to maintain the Rangers lead. Devils went back on the power play but thankfully the Rangers killed that one off. The Devils players started getting all angsty trying to start fights. Another Rangers power play sadly didn't get converted. The Devils started playing really dirty and their bench got a warning from the ref. Second period ended with the Rangers still leading 2 - 1. Shots on goal were Rangers 14 (33) , Devils 6 (10).

Rangers started the third with one minute of power play remaining. Once again they failed to convert. One goal in seven power plays is dire. They'll need to do much better than that once the Play Offs start! The game went end to end after that with both teams having some chances. James Sheppard gave the Rangers some breathing space with a lovely goal at 10:41 giving the Rangers a 3 -1 lead. Devils clawed one back after a scramble in front of Cam Talbot and it was a 3 - 2 game. There was certainly some irony as the Devils fans chanted, "Hey, you suck" at the Rangers. The Devils have failed to make it to the Play Offs and are losing the game.... DOH! Carl Hagelin got an empty netter at 18:12 to move the Rangers into a more comfortable 4 - 2 lead. Third period ended with the Rangers winning 4 - 2. Shots on goal were Rangers 7 (40) , Devils 10 (20).

New York Rangers have won their Division, the Eastern Conference and now the League and so win the President's Trophy. They will now enjoy the luxury of home ice advantage for the Play Offs. Bring it on! Let's Go Rangers!!!!!
