Pam watch, Horns, rock movies and Rangers choke in game two

It was a slightly different day today. Pam had pulled a muscle yesterday that put her in a lot of pain so Toni ended up staying up to keep an eye on her for most of the night. We switched roles this morning as I let Toni sleep and I got up to look after Pam. She didn't seem as bad today and breakfast and painkillers seemed to settle her down for a bit. Fortunately this seemed to do the trick as she was much better after that.

While Toni slept Sam and I watched Horns. We were pretty impressed. Daniel Radcliffe does a mean American accent and actually acted well. It was a really good film, great story with an unexpected ending that didn't follow your usual Hollywood paint be numbers routine.

When Toni surfaced later in the day we went into rock movie mode. We started off with Jack Black and School Of Rock. All very silly but great fun nonetheless. This was followed by the Tom Cruise led Rock Of Ages. This film has THE best love sequence and song ever (and yes I have posted this before!)

We finished our rock movie watching with The Rocker. This is a great pizza movie with a cheesy cliche plot that somehow just works.

Close of play was game two of the Play Offs with New York Rangers looking to defend their 1 - 0 lead over Pittsburgh Penguins. This was a slow starting game with neither team having a shot on goal in the first six minutes! It was a really tight period with both teams playing great defence. Rangers power play continued to be poor with nothing happening there. They seem to be scared of shooting with the man advantage! Derek Stepan make it 1 - 0 Rangers at 17:05 after a beautiful pass from J.T. Miller. First period ended with the Rangers leading 1 - 0. Shots on goal were NYR 3 and PIT 5.

The second period was close again. The Rangers started on a power play but nothing was doing there. Neither teams created much in the way of shots. The post saved the Rangers. Another Rangers power play was lacking but at least had some shots. A penalty call that shouldn't been (you can see it here: http://streamable.com/ahdh) resulted in Penguins levelling the score to 1 - 1. Some sloppy defence from the Rangers then saw the Penguins take a 1 - 2 lead. Rangers once again failed to do anything with the power play, not even a shot! To add insult to injury the Penguins notched up another to go 1 - 3 up.  Second period ended with the Penguins leading 1 - 3. Shots on goal were NYR () and PIT ().

Rangers started the third with two goals to catch up and Derick Brassard finally brought soe luck to the power play and reduced the Penguins lead to 2 - 3 with 03:16 gone. Penguins wasted no time in extending their lead again with a power play goal at 09:41 making it 2 - 4. A last minute attempt saw the Rangers get to 3 - 4 with a goal from Martin St. Louis at 19:56. Third period ended with the Rangers losing 3 - 4. Shots on goal were NYR 14 (27) and PIT 6 (22).

That was a horrible game. The Rangers weren't playing like a team that wanted to win. Disappointed is all I have to say on that matter. The series is now tied 1 - 1 so there is still plenty to play for (hopefully). Things had better change on Monday or this might be a short run!
