Now, about those test cases you were supposed to be contributing.......
With the series tied 1 - 1 New York Rangers were determined to get their Play Off campaign back on track as they took on Pittsburgh Penguins in game 3.
It was a disappointing start to the first period. Penguins seemed to be well in control of the game and the Rangers power play as usual was dire with no shots on goal. Rangers upped the ante after that with some good pressure on the Penguins. This was then rewarded with a Carl Hagelin goal at 08:43 giving the Rangers a 1 - 0 lead. Rangers did excellent work on the penalty kill. First period ended with the Rangers leading 1 - 0 . Shots on goal were NYR 7 and PIT 3.
Rangers started the second period looking like they meant business which was reassuring. Power play once again came up empty but despite this Chris Kreider puts the Rangers 2 - 0 up at 11:07. Lots more Rangers chances but all were turned aside. Rangers had a good penalty kill right at the end of the period. Second period ended with the Rangers leading 2 - 0. Shots on goal were NYR 12 (19) and PIT 8 (11).
There was no sitting back and defending the lead as the Rangers continued to press forward trying to extend their advantage. The Penguins started to get a little more desperate and started to mount a constant attack. There efforts were rewarded with a goal to reduce the Rangers lead to 2 - 1 at 13:12. It was all Penguins after that as they found a new lease of life. One pulled goalie and it was twitchy bum time. The Rangers held firm though and the third period ended with the Rangers winning 2 - 1. Shots on goal were NYR 7 (26) and PIT 13 (24). Rangers now lead the series 2 - 1.
