The image above is the first on set photo posted by JJ Abrams as the filming of Episode IX commenced. I'm very excited about this, it means we are finally heading towards the final instalment of the final trilogy and the story will be complete (probably).
The cast list has been revealed for Episode IX and fans will be pleased to hear that Billy Dee Williams will be back as Lando Calrissian and Carrie Fisher will still have a part to play with JJ Abrams saying that he will use unused footage of her from previous filming to bridge that gap. Mark Hamill returns as Luke Skywalker, presumably in force ghost mode and Anthony Daniels will reprise his role at C-3PO. Returning cast members include Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran, Joonas Suotamo, and Billie Lourd. John Williams will return to score the film.
New additions to the cast are Naomi Ackie and Richard E. Grant. There has been much speculation that Grant will be playing a villain with the wild bet money going on him playing Grand Admiral Thrawn (who was made canon once again after he appeared in Star Wars Rebels and had two more novels written in his story).
Following on from the backlash against the toxic element for the Star Wars fandom a friend of mine posted this wonderful cartoon online which I think sums things up really well!
Due to be broadcast in October we have the new Star Wars animation Resistance to look forward to. The synopsis of the first episode has been released:
Resistance fighter Poe Dameron tasks young pilot Kazuda (Kaz) Xiono with spying on the First Order. At the time, little was known about the secretive organization and its strength. In order to fulfill his mission, Kaz travels to the space station Colossus, which is being used by many ships as a port to refuel and do repairs. However, there are also dangerous races taking place there. After Kaz bragged with his piloting skills at his arrival there, he is soon drawn into one of the races.
To whet our appetites further we also have a nice teaser trailer:
Finally, on the humorous side, is this wonderful skit from College Humour which is another shot at the boohoo element of the Star Wars fandom :)
