Wallace Collection, Comics Unmasked: Art And Anarchy In The UK and Forbidden Planet

Sam, Aaron and I spent a day in London taking in a few things. First up was a return to the Wallace Collection so that Sam could see the armour. It was fun to go back there but sadly one of the galleries was closed (the best one of the two) and so poor old Sam only got to see half of what he wanted. Oh well, guess that gives an excuse to go back there again then!

Next stop was the British Library to go and see the Comics Unmasked: Art And Anarchy In The UK exhibition that they are currently running.
Featuring such iconic names as Neil Gaiman (Sandman), Alan Moore (Watchmen, V for Vendetta), Grant Morrison (Batman: Arkham Asylum) and Posy Simmonds (Tamara Drewe), this exhibition traces the British comics tradition back through classic 1970s titles including 2000AD, Action and Misty to 19th-century illustrated reports of Jack the Ripper and even medieval manuscripts.

In this short video, exhibition curators Adrian Edwards, John Harris Dunning and Paul Gravett introduce Comics Unmasked.

The exhibition was really well put together. Lots of history plus plenty of stuff that I grew up with as a kid. If you are a fan of comic books then it's definitely worth going to see although you'll have to hurry as it is only on at the British Library until August 19th.

Next stop was Forbidden Planet. Going in there is a nightmare for me as there is just so much pretty stuff and I can't buy it all! I ended up not spending anything on me at all but I did get Toni some Mace Windu lightsaber chopsticks and a talking Sheldon bobble head!

All in all it was a fantastic day, just a shame it's back to work tomorrow!
