Blogging, you are doing it right when.....

...... UK ISP TalkTalk deems you as subversive/dangerous enough to warrant blocking your site customers that have opted in to their filtering system can no longer see your blog........ MAYBE! Read on....

The UK government has gone large on internet censorship with lots of vital sites now going dark to UK users due them being flagged as "inappropriate" by ISP filters and thus blocked. The Open Rights Group have an excellent website www.blocked.org.uk that allows you to run a check against websites to see if they have been censored/blocked by UK ISPs. I plugged in the address for this blog to see what came up:

Unfortunately this is all a bit of an anti climax now as it is has transpired that TalkTalk filter on the following categories:
- Dating
- Drugs, alcohol tobacco
- File-sharing
- Gambling
- Games
- Pornography
- Social networking
- Suicide
- Weapons/violence

Blogs are covered under social networking  and so by default are "at risk" under the TalkTalk filtering system. My blog doesn't contain anything that I would class as subversive at all and this latest bit of information at least makes sense. So it looks like I haven't been blocked/filtered for being mad, bad and dangerous to know, just because I actively post on a blog that is classified under the social networking label. Ho hum, well that was disappointing LMFAO. Now all I have to do is contact TalkTalk and arrange to get my blog removed from their filtered list!
