Child at Xmas bouncing on the bed shouting, "We're going on holiday!"
We left as planned at 04:30 and dropped the car at the car park before getting the free bus to the North Terminal. Once the bags were dropped off and we'd been through security it was time fir breakfast.
Proper photos will be posted on our return but in the meantime the iPhone will have to suffice!
Suitably refreshed we then headed to Gate 111.
Seat 16F was mine and here's the view to my right:
To my left:
We took off at around 07:50 in the rain and had a smooth flight.
Goodbye England:
Hello Belgium:
Hello Germany:
The Alps:
We landed at 11:05 in the glorious sunshine!
After some chaos and lost luggage (thankfully not ours) we boarded our coach and headed to our boat. Frankie, our tour rep, is a bit random but we think we like her. She reminded us a lot of Maureen Lipman.
Our boat, Michelangelo, is very nice, small and intimate and not like some of the monstrous ships we could see moored around the place.
Our cabin:
We left our mooring and headed up the canal to a new, more scenic, spot. The view was spectacular!
Once we had moored we were introduced to the entire crew and then enjoyed complimentary cocktails before heading into dinner. The food was fantastic and Toni was delighted as they'd manage to cope very well with her gluten free requirements.
All in all it was a fantastic first day and I can't wait to start exploring Venice properly tomorrow!
