It was all change on the plans front today. Toni and I were supposed to have gone to Wicca Moon for a workshop but due to Pam having a confused day we decided to stay home. It was probably for the best as I think we've needed a weekend where we do nothing at all.
There was a brief bit of tidying up in the living room and then we just relaxed and watched some random ice hockey games from last week and then did a large number of episodes of How I Met Your Mother. Papa Johns provided some sustenance!
Having had nearly a week off it was back to live New York Rangers hockey tonight as they took on the Red Wings. The first period was end to end action with Cam Talbot doing great work in the Rangers net and keeping the Red Wings at bay especially during a four minute penalty kill. Kevin Klein gave the Rangers a 1 - 0 lead at 09:31 and then Rick Nash extended that to 2 - 0 with a beauty at 14:48.The first period ended with the Rangers leading 2 - 0. Shots on goal were NYR 10 (22) and DET 14 (24).
Second period started with the Red Wings pushing hard and the Rangers successfully killing off a penalty that shouldn't have been called. Talbot was solid once again. At 14:14 the Red Wings scored a cracking goal and left the Rangers leading 2 - 1. Just like that at 15:15 the Red Wings made it 2 - 2 and it was now everything to play for! Second period ended tied at 2 - 2.Shots on goal were NYR 12 and DET 10.
Third period started with the Rangers on the power play but there was nothing doing there. After that it was all a bit cagey with both teams trying to not make stupid mistakes while trying to get that winning goal. A bad bounce for the Rangers provided good fortune for the Red Wings and they took a 2 - 3 lead at 07:40. Rangers threw away a 5 on 3 opportunity and then failed to do much with it. They were there back on another 5 on 3 advantage. Rangers hit the post twice! Red Wings managed to kill them all off though much to the delight of the home crowd. Sadly the game ended with the Rangers losing 2 - 3. Shots on goal were NYR 7 (29) and DET 9 (34).
Once again New York managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory!
