Getting better (ish), configuring new laptop and network and a Bruins loss

I am pleased to report that are getting better (ish). Everything on my chest suddenly started shifting and the razor blades have left my throat. My aches and pains and headaches have gone and I'm just a bit of a snotty beast now. Toni has improved too although she is still behind where I am in the recovery stakes.

Sam went with mum to pick up a new laptop today which we spent the afternoon configuring. All data copied across to the new machine, new apps installed, AOL archive copied over and Joanna Lumley's voice restored. Mum is very happy that she now has a working machine that isn't being a pain in the butt. The only things to do now are sort her out a Skype account and to try and get her McAfee subscription transferred. She has taken to Windows 8.1 quite well (with a few tweaks to stop some gesture behaviours) and it's a fair departure from Vista!
In other tech news, Sam and I reconfigured the house network. I've dropped in a brand new Home Hub 5 as our front end. This now has three switches hanging off of it. We also have a Home Hub 2 and 3 running from the switch as Wireless Access points with most critical devices hard wired to the switch. There were a few teething problems but everything seemed to settle down quickly.

It was hockey night again tonight as we watched the Bruins v Dead Things Red Wings. It was a frantic game with both teams going for it. It was a hard hitting game with both teams really upping the physicality and getting lots of cheap shots. It was 0 - 0 at the end of the first and second. Both teams pushed things to the limit until the bloody Dead Things made it 0 - 1 with three minutes left. Bruins pulled Rask with 01:15 left and it was twitchy bum time. Sadly they couldn't equalize and so the Dead Things now lead this series 1 - 0. I have the Bruins down to win the series in six games so there's plenty of hockey to play yet!
