Linkin Park

Sophie, Sam, Toni and I went to the O2 Arena to see Linkin Park tonight.

Kicked off the proceedings with a cracking meal in Nandos:

Rock poses!

After the meal we headed off to the O2 and started off thinking about having a drink first. Couldn't decide on a venue to go to but we were all very amused by the wonderfully names Cafe S&M!

We then decided to wait in line in a massive queue! After what seemed like forever we finally got to our seats (and what great seats they were) and settled down to watch the support band.

Fluffy Gyro (sorry BIFFY CLYRO)
WTF is that all about?
NOT a good band to have as a warm up for someone like Linkin Park. Despite receiving much critical acclaim in the press I just don't get it. I could imagine in a small packed and very drunk student bar they would go down a storm but three guys with no stage presence playing experimental pretentious art twonk in a 17,000 seat arena, give me a break! The singer even had the front to say "thank you ladies and gentleman" in Spanish! FWIW, here they are:

I pray our paths never cross again.

Which brings us nicely on to LINKIN PARK. A band thought of by many as being designed for 13 year old EMO kids I did wonder if they had ideas above their station playing two nights at the O2. I was so glad to be proved wrong! The place was rocking and the band were superb, great musicians as well as great showmen, just want we needed after the support band! They even managed a comedy moment with a very brief rendition of Rhiana's Umbrella Song which the crowd sang along too!
