Slow day, new house for Sophie, Papa Johns and New York Rangers bounce back

Well it was back to work again today. It was less than exciting though and things are really slow at the moment. Hope things start to pick up again soon otherwise it's going to be twiddling thumbs time.

Sophie is making a break soon. She has just received the keys for a three bedroom house so she is moving out of her mums place. She isn't going far though, it's just in the next street so they'll be able to continue their childcare arrangements with ease but Sophie will have a chance to gain some independence once again. We are really pleased for her. Here's a few pics of the new place:

On the way home Sam was telling me about some incidents that had happened during the day. He was just finishing things up when  he received a text from his colleague saying that he wasn't coming back to work as he had just been let go. Sam couldn't quite believe it as he was just telling me that they wouldn't get rid of the poor guy. As it was a two man team Sam is going to be very busy for the foreseeable future until they can hire a replacement.

As it was my turn to cook tonight I opted for the easy option and we ordered from Papa Johns. Pizza for Sam and chicken wings and wedges for Toni, Pam and I.

Crunch time for the New York Rangers tonight as they headed to face Pittsburgh Penguins with a 3 - 1 deficit in the series. The mission was clear, win this game or face a 4 - 1 exit from the second round of the Stanley Cup Play Offs. Rangers came out playing like a team needing and wanting to win. Having failed on their previous 36 power plays Chris Kreider put things right with a power goal at 09:36. Derick Brassard then made it 2 - 0 to the Rangers at 15:23. Rangers had more shots on goal in the first period than they had in the whole of game four.

Second period started with a push from the Penguins and a terrible defensive lapse allowed Bortuzzo to slip one past Lundqvist at 03:23 and it was a 2 - 1 game. Thankfully Derick Brassard was back again at 07:58 and the two goal lead was restored with the Rangers leading 3 - 1. Another power play goal at 08:48 from Ryan McDonagh put the Rangers 4 - 1 ahead. Rangers managed to see off a 5 on 3 penalty kill and the second period ended with the Rangers leading 4 - 1.

Third period was end to end. Rangers defended well and had plenty of chances in the offensive zone too. With ten minutes left the Rangers had notched up 33 shots on goal which was a vast improvement on game four. Penguins went on the power play with 05:53 left and pulled their netminder for the 6 on 4 advantage. Rangers just missed an empty netter and then we were 6 on 5. Klein then banged on home at 17:31 to make it 5 - 1 to the Rangers. The odds were completely against the Rangers going into this game but somehow they dug really deep and bounced back with a vengeance to win 5 - 1 and now trail the series 3 - 2. Game six will be back in New York on Sunday and the chance to tie the series!
