I thought my stats nightmare was over but I spent another chunk of today tweaking some things to future proof what I collect. Thankfully it was mission successful in the end.
Musical choice for today was The 69 Eyes, primarily their West End album mixed up with the rest of their back catalogue.
Tonight we went into hockey catch up mode. First up was Dallas Stars v Colorado Avalanche. This game look like it was the chance to knockout out Colorado as they were leading the series 3 - 1. It turned out that Colorado weren't quite ready to just give up. The first period ended with Colorado sitting on a 5 - 0 lead (and a Dallas netminder change to boot). Dallas tried to fight back and at least scored a couple before Colorado fired back and the second period ended with Dallas trailing 2 - 6. Third period ended 3 - 6 and so Colorado are still in this thing but trailing the series 2 - 3. Keep betting against me!
Next up was Boston Bruins v Tampa Bay Lightning. Bruins were trailing the series 1 - 3 so needed to win this one or they are done. First period ended tied 0 - 0. This was a close game with the second period ending tied 1 - 1. Third period ended 2 - 2 and so we were into overtime. Twenty minutes of overtime wasn't enough so it was into a second overtime period. Sadly Tampa made it 3 - 2 in second overtime and won the series 4 - 1.
So there we are. Dallas Stars failed to get the job done big style today and although they have the lead it is clear that Colorado are hungry to survive. Boston Bruins are now done and are out completely. Who will win the Stanley Cup? Place your bets but don't ask me as I just don't have a clue now! I'll go with Vegas Golden Knights!
