The Crabchurch Conspiracy 2014

Today was once again kicked off with big breakfast at The Sailors Return. Today however we were also accompanied by a large collective of Oliver Cromwell's finest (plus a few Royalists thrown in for good measure).

After the noms Toni went to bed as she was feeling in need of additional sleep and I set out for a day if watch the re-enactment of the Crabchurch Conspiracy. It was a lovely day as I made may way to the meeing point.

Weymouth Old Town Hall was the meeting place:

At the appointed hour we all set off. The re-enactments took place across lots of pubs in Weymouth. Some could say it was a glorified pub crawl. It was that and a WHOLE LOT MORE especially as it involved the apprehension of Royalist conspirators! So here we go, in order............

THE BELVEDERE INN (High West Street)

THE BOOT (High West Street)

THE OLD ROOMS (Cove Row)

THE SAILORS RETURN (St Nicholas Street)
Toni surfaced that this point to enjoy the rest of the day :o)

En route we stopped to take a look at a very old building with a cannonball embedded in it!

THE GLOBE (East Street)

We then made a detour to the planned route for a very special arrest. The owner of the Dorset Burger Company has donated a large sum of money last night to arrange for his wife to be arrested while working today. She was surprised but took it well!

THE BLACK DOG (St Mary Street)

THE EDINBURGH (St Thomas Street)

The rain came at this point so there was a slight delay in proceedings which people took as a good excuse for another pint. Toni and I slipped off for chips and a cup of tea LOL

FINNS (Westham Road)

Finns was the final place for arrests and then we headed back to the Old Town Hall for the trials to take place....and here it is:

The day ended at Weymouth Pavillion where The Dolmen performed their Crabchurch Conspiracy album accompanied by Professor Ronald Hutton, Kit Berry and Steve Howl. This all started off with a fascinating talk from Professor Ronald Hutton on how King Charles very nearly won the English Civil War.

PROFESSOR RONALD HUTTON

THE DOLMEN, PROFESSOR RONALD HUTTON & KIT BERRY

What an emotional performance! I've never seen The Dolmen be so intense and it was a completely different kind of show where people weren't up and bouncing around like loons but were sitting in there seats entranced by the story unfolding in front of them. AMAZING!
